In the midst of financial crisis, some still shine at the top, lost in ideas on how to innovate and impress. Bugatti is one striking example with its latest creation being nothing less than the very first porcelain-made car. As a result of the partnership between Bugatti and Königliche Porzellan-Manufatur Berlin (Royal Porcelain Manufactory Berlin), a car made in porcelain both in its exteriors and interiors was born in June 2011.

bugatti-lorblanc.jpgIndeed, one of the most fragile materials has been successfully encrusted in a car, and not any car: the fastest convertible in the world, with a speed attaining a frightening 267.85 mph. It is not any kind of porcelain either, but the very finest coming from a manufacturer with more than 250 years of expertise. The car was named the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport ‘L'Or Blanc’, meaning ‘White Gold’ as a result of the shining porcelain that can be found in the wheels, on the logo, around the seats, on the license plate, in the center console and even in the oil and fuel caps… pushing automotive art to its best, or, craziest…

The Bugatti Design Studio was described as an artistic atelier, and the car is definitely a work of art for the Bugatti team. Every porcelain element has been carefully researched and tested for weeks before being finalized for the l’Or Blanc project. The light effects emanating from the design are unique, with a combination of hand-made white and blue stripes covering the car, making it feel as if it was moving while being still. Dr. Stefan Brungs, the director of Sales and Marketing at Bugatti Automobiles explains that ‘this is what Bugatti stands for: the realization of exceptional ideas whilst striving for the utmost in quality and aesthetics.’

Worth £1.48m, the Bugatti l’Or Blanc is also the most expensive car today. With every facet meticulously designed to allow maximum performance while reaching acme in innovation, l’Or Blanc is a car of superlatives – it the most expensive, the fastest and the first of its kind, with design, luxury and functionality all perfectly merged in one.
