EcoVelocity is one of Europe's main green motor shows showcasing the latest in green innovation for the automotive industry. At the heart of the show are a series of facts that are crucial to its success: the advantages of eco-driving - which are, according to EcoVelocity, not always so obvious to the general public.
The obvious bit is of course the environmental benefits directly associated with eco-driving. Reducing gas emissions means less pollution, less global warming, a cleaner air and generally a healthier lifestyle. We can add to this less noise pollution as green technology is pretty silent.
Much less obvious are the financial savings of having an eco-friendly car. No more dependence on rising petrol prices means savings on the long-term. Also, in the UK, drivers pay less tax less congestion charge the more fuel efficient the car is, so here again more savings. Drivers of eco-friendly cars are also able to park for free in some London boroughs - and this trend keeps growing as more and more boroughs keep offering free parking to encourage the use of EVs.
Another aspect so often misunderstood is that having an EV doesn't mean you're going to end up in a claustrophobic sort of car specie. Quite the contrary, whether you like it small, big or bigger, all designs and sizes are available to suit your tastes. Another point of flexibility here is that you can also choose the type of energy source that you like such as electric, hybrid, hydrogen fuel cell, LPG or bio-fuel and the future will welcome many more different technologies as well.
Boris Johnson declared in 2009 that he aims to make London the European capital of EVs as soon as possible. So, as EcoVelocity puts forward, if you are based in London you are definitely in the right place for this kind of change - you won't even have to worry about running out of battery as charging points will be plenty. And, according to EcoVelocity, owning an EV automatically enhances your image so, since this is the future of driving, the earlier you have one the more you will be admired and remembered as a pioneer when everyone will own one…
