The most important showcase of the year for the automotive industry is ready to open its doors to car enthusiasts. The 64th Frankfurt International Motor Show will be held from 15th to the 25th of September, but it is already sparking our curiosity with numerous rumours that are flooding the motor trade.

610x.jpgTens of thousands of visitors from all over the world are expected at the Trade fair ground venue to discover the latest developments and get a flavour of the industry's future.

While we will love to be surprised by all the news manufacturers are preparing for us, we just cant help trying to predict some of the most exciting novelties.

The Ferrari 458 Spider is definitely one car that we cannot wait to see. The long anticipated convertible version of the 458 Italia Superstar is adorned with a super-fast automated folding hard-top instead of the usual canvas soft-top. This new roof will provide owners with the best from both worlds: the comfort and safety of a solid roof and the thrill of a convertible. The engine should be the same V8 570bhp as its hard-top sister, but additional weight is inevitable due to the new roof mechanism and the strengthened chassis.

Massive interest has also been building around the new version of a classic: the Jaguar Land Rover Defender. The Land Rover Defender's design has changed only slightly since it was born in 1948. But in Frankfurt the DC 100 concept car will be be finally unveiled as a taster base of its future launch on sale. It should enter the markets in 2015.

The recently announced Maserati SUV is stirring a fierce debate amongst the Italian brand's followers. The carmaker is highly renowned for its sports cars and coupes, so not all its fans are thrilled to witness it out of its comfort zone. But the firgiving can be sure that this SUV will be at the top of its sector. Maserati is part of the Fiat family and has entered the SUV sector with the US market in mind after the marriage with Chrysler. The car should be powered by a V8 petrol engine and has been built on the same platform used for Chrysler's Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Other interesting novelties might include the new Renault Twingo, Toyota Yaris and Volkswagen Up, as city-cars. Mini Roadster, Mini Coupé and the new Volkswagen Beetle for those looking for a bit more of style.

These are just some anticipations, for the full round up we will just have to wait and see.
