Where quick means really quick

To me, the concept of getting a car insurance quotation inside 10 seconds seems a silly idea. However, recognising that being old might make me biased, I canvassed the offspring of some friends.
I asked six young people, probably in the 18 to 25 year old band and found that 100% voted enthusiastically in favour of the idea. It shows just how out-of-step with reality the younger generation has become !
One point they made was that car insurance is now an important factor in the decision making process for buying a car. Cars have become cheaper and insurance more expensive. Before you make a decision on the car, check the insurance cost. Interesting, I must get out more.
Confused.com have picked up on this trend and have launched a text based "QuickQuote". Just text your registration number and get a quote back to your telephone within seconds. They charge £1 per shot and, if you are car shopping, you can use it as many times as you need. The only pre-requisite is that you have previously registered with confused.com so that they have you details, driving history, no-claims bonuses etc.
I am now keeping quiet about the pace of modern life and how much better it was in my day and doing some sneaky checking up on my friends and neighbours and how much they might save with QuickQuote. Roll on the next dinner party.

My husband and I got badly caught out because we did not check the cost of insurance before we bought our daughter's first car. Had we spent more time ringing around, and ringing around does take an inordinate amount of time, we would not have been landed a £1,000 plus insurance bill. Other cars, more expensive than the one we bought, had much lower premiums.

This sounds like a very good idea. We have multiple cars in the house and so use a specialist broker but, for the ordinary single car situation, a quick and simple quote for standard insurance seems great.

I really like the idea of this, and have already taken a look.
