The 2011 Gumball 3000 Rally, the world’s most rock ‘n’ roll motor rally, will set off from the Covent Garden Piazza for the first time on the 26th May, with the iconic Market Building as the centre piece, and the Piazza transformed with over 100 vintage and supercars on the cobbles.

gumball2.jpgFilled with cars and stars, Gumball offers a mix of celebrity glamour, cutting edge automotive design, music, film, and entertainment. The 300 participants, including current Britain’s Got Talent judge David Hasselhoff, hip hop star EVE, NFL superstar Reggie Bush and the boys from Jackass as well as a who’s who of the international social scene, will set off on their 3,000 mile, 8 day epic journey through Europe via Covent Garden’s Russell Street with the first car leaving at midday.

In addition to the celebrity participants a fantastic line up of cars will be on display on the Piazza from 9am including Pagani Zondas, Bugatti Veyrons, Ferraris, Lamborginis, Rolls Royces, Bentleys, Aston Martins, Jaguars and Porsches with fans able to mix and mingle amongst the cars and drivers.

New to this year’s Rally will be a focus on eco motoring with over 20 of the world’s most technologically advanced and head-turning eco cars on display to educate participants on the developments in green supercars. This year’s Rally is also pushing the green issue by raising the environmental credentials of participants and helping to offset the impact of the high performance entrants.

Maximillion Cooper, founder and CEO of Gumball 3000 said:

gumball1.jpg“We’re thrilled to be starting the 2011 Gumball 3000 Rally in such an iconic London neighborhood as Covent Garden, against the backdrop of the historic Market Building. Gumball 3000 has evolved from a luxury car tour to an aspirational lifestyle brand and we feel that the modern and vibrant atmosphere in Covent Garden perfectly reflects our brand. We expect the event to be a great success.”

Bev Churchill, Covent Garden Brand Director, comments:

Gumball Rally 3000 is one of the world’s great motoring events and we are delighted to be hosting the start in Covent Garden for the first time. The Piazza will be the perfect location to showcase the fantastic cars that will be on display and taking part in this year’s Rally.
